With the NBA dominating the headlines as of late, there has been less football talk then usual this time of year. We are less than a month away from preseason, and I wanted to give a closure look to players you need to be on the lookout for this upcoming season. 5 players you will see on the highlights all season. Here the are 5 through 1:
5. Allen Robison
Just look at the big jump in numbers:
This best Wide Receiver you never heard of is recking shit in Jacksonville. Robinson was first last season in plays over 40 yards. The Chemistry he and second year Quarterback Blake Bortles have is unreal. 151 targets shows you how important Mr. Robison is to the change of that losing culture. Believe it or not things or changing in Florida, and he’s a big reason why.
4. Amari Cooper
Speaking on behalf of The Only Nation, there’s a reason Amari Cooper is considered the first franchise Wide Receiver since hall of fame Tim Brown. Breaking rookie records in yards (1,070) and receptions (72), Coop, is a big reason why this franchise has turned around and a real breakout year is coming in 2016. Already a problem for any defensive back that lines up across from him, one could even argue he’s already one of the most unguardable receivers, in terms of route running. When’s the last time we had a player this fun to watch?
3. DeAndre Hopkins
DeAndre is the second best player on the Texans, and the face of that offense. Hopkins ranked 3rd in yards (1,521) and 3rd in receptions (111) and first in making that Texans quarterback carousel look good. If you play fantasy football, make sure he’s your first pick.
2. Derek Carr
3,987 yards, 32 touchdowns, and maybe the biggest, if not the most underrated factor in the Raiders turn around. I’m sure you hear all the hype, all the hoopla surrounding the Sliver & Black, and I assure you it’s warranted. It’s as accurate as a pass coming from #4 (see what I did there). Carr completed 350 completions to 14 different receivers, and 12 of those receivers caught multiple passes. All quarterbacks are judged on how well they prefer in their third year, so buckle up your seatbelts, and fasten your chin straps, shits about to get real, really fast for 2016.
1. Khalil Mack
I’m sure this looks like Raiders list to the untrained eye, but if you’re keeping score at home, you’ll see Oakland has at least 3 of the top young players in the NFL. Teams are only as good as their quarterback, but defense still and always will win championships. Khalil Mack is in the top tier of pass rushers along with, Von Miller and J.J. Watt. Ask Brock Osweiler who Khalil is, he found out the hard way about the man. 15 sacks, 75 tackles and 2 forced fumbles; Khalil Mack and the Raiders are coming and the NFL has been put on notice.
