Dear Detroit, and Everyone Else

Hello everybody. As you all know, my new host city for the last 5 months has been Detroit,MI. And as you know I have been covering the Pistons since I been here as a business endeavor.

To expand on that business idea even further, I developed a website dedicated to Detroit sports, because well, I live here and I’m going to be here — and I’m carving out my patch entrepreneurially. With that said I wanted anyone who supports us or cares for sports to please follow LiveFromWoodward.com

For those of you who don’t care for sports I understand, but maybe you can tell someone who does. Or anyone from Michigan, who may care.

Thank you for your continued support of thecouchsports.com. We really do appreciate it. And no, The Couch Sports isn’t going anywhere. I’ll be running both. I’m something like a machine, lol

Yay. Ready for another edition? No you’re probably not. Anyways haha

Jagged Edge f. Loon ‘Promise (So So Def Remix)’

This song samples LL Cool J’s  “I need love” and is one of my favorite songs ever. I will tell you why on a future post (maybe), but man don’t y’all miss Jagged Edge though?

https://youtu.be/Wln6NX0V4AQ
Foreigner ‘Waiting for a girl like you’

Ahh Come on people! You don’t remember this song? When white boys were soulful? Man Lou Gramm was singing his ass off on this song. “Deep in the night” that is my favorite part.

The Notorious B.I.G. f. 112 ‘Sky’s the Limit

I think this was my favorite Biggie song ever. I wasn’t a huge Biggie fan growing up. But I really loved this concept. While Niggaz flirt/I’m sewing tigers on my shirts and alligators/ya wanna see the inside, ill see you later. They did a great job using little kids who all look like, Biggie, Faith, 112, and Puff Daddy.

Catch you next week. Take care

Tigers vs White Sox Game 1

Live From Woodward

Game Recap

After the original season opening game was postponed, due to inclement weather, a little anticipation was built up. Dare say antsy-ness. We’ve waited six months, what’s one more day?

The Tigers and White Sox game didn’t disappoint. There was action, damn near from the opening pitch. Or maybe I was just excited.

The White Sox wasted little time getting on the board. In the bottom of the first, with a man on first base, Melky Caberra stepped to the plate. He hit a line drive to right field, driving in Tyler Saladino and his mustache, and although Saladino scored, Melky got thrown out going for the triple.

At the top of the second inning, the Tigers had men on first and third with no outs. 24 year old Jacoby Jones steps to the plate, making his first Major League debut. One would think he would be nervous, under the bright lights, and hype of…

En Vogue Don’t Let Go

https://youtu.be/mwhwGmoYv1s
Man remember when buying the CDs to your favorite movie? Yes buying the soundtrack. I loved the 1996 movie Set It Off. En Vogue was my favorite Woman’s R&B group in the 90s. That passion though? Hahahaha.

Fabolous ft Jazzy Real One

https://youtu.be/CGtx-bHW_sY

This song is dope. It samples The Fugees “Killing Me Softly” which samples Roberta Flack’s “Killing Me Softly” Rap is always sampling something, right? But I love this jam because it’s paying homage. This is off of Fabolous’s Summertime Shootouts album.

50 Cent Best Friend

Something about soundtracks today. I like this version without Olivia. Back when 50 cent had everything on lock. 2005. “If I’m focused when I’m stroking, I can change how you walk.” Hahaha best line.

The plan involves Eastern Michigan University, the University of Michigan, Michigan State University and Wayne State University, according to the Michigan Department of Education.

The four institutions would help set “high but attainable” goals at two dozen city schools that had been targeted by the state for closure, improving academic achievement and decreasing chronic absenteeism and teacher vacancies.

Returning to Transit (The Decision)

PTA

After much thought, and after a tough couple of months figuring things out, I’m going to take my talents to DDOT. That’s right, the Detroit Department of Transportation.

DDOT-logo-new

I was in the training program before, and I wasn’t happy with what I experienced, however I’ve been convinced things are changing, for the better. I would like to be apart of the change. Out with the old way of doing things, in with the new breed. This is my third, and final run as a transit bus driver. I don’t plan on switching teams again.

This is an opportunity to help change the culture of an organization and become a championship caliber team. I know it will be a long road ahead, but I’m something like the LeBron, (Pre-flopping) of bus drivers. A franchise player if I must say so myself.

I’ll be writing here on PTA a lot more…

Tareau’s Three Tunes Tuedays #2

Well thank you for looking at my 1st music post last week. I got a good response so let’s do it again.

Alessia Cara “Here”

https://youtu.be/UKp2CrfmVfw
Lmfao yes! I love this song. When I was a tour bus driver, my co workers daughter would always sing this song. I had no idea what she was singing about but I loved the story. About a teenage girl who gets dragged to a party by her friends. She clearly did not want to be at said party. Hahahaha. She was singing her lil ass off tho.

The Jackson 5 “Ready Or Not”

https://youtu.be/7YUE1F1Is1w

Off of their 3rd Album entitled “Third Album” I think this would be my favorite Jackson 5 song ever. With the utmost respect to the Delfonics, I really liked the Jackson 5 version better.

The Stylistics “One Night Affair”

https://youtu.be/Qm4eEajalDM

Off of the hard to find “Love Spell” album, this song says it all. We’ve all been there. Men and Women alike. Man they were so soulful.

https://youtu.be/q-qg2Q_zxFQ
As a bonus song the rap group “Little Brother” sampled this song for their hit song “Lovin It” off of their album called “The Minstrel Show”

Well here you are folks. Hopefully this will get you through, what feels like Monday Jr. Tuesday. Hahaha. Thank You

Dear Oakland, and Everyone Else

picsart_03-27-09-16-34.jpg

Lets be completely honest right now. I mean gloves off, emotion out of it (at least for a couple of paragraphs), it’s mostly people that’s NOT from Oakland or who never even been to Oakland, hollering that “I’m a fan no matter what” shit. Lets be clear, Oakland needs a lot of help financially, and if the rich ass owners, and the multi-Billion dollar NFL, and every person who complains about The Town don’t want to help a city in need, but hold the citizens for ransom over a stadium, then bounce for the corporate dollar anyway, then FUCK YOU!

Raiders turned their back on Oakland twice! Twice! At the end of the day they made a business move, and I’m making one too. I don’t have to support shit. At the end of the day, I rep Oakland, and we don’t have to hang our heads over RICH FUCKS WHO DONT CARE ABOUT THE CITIZENS.

And as far as the fanbase in Oakland, from Oakland, DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES GO TO ANY OF THESE GAMES. MARK THINKS HE WILL PLAY IN OAKLAND UNTIL HIS SHINY NEW PROFIT MAKER IS BUILT, in 2019.

Let’s keep it a stack, since we are being honest. All the money the NFL and each owner has, why does every host city have to pay for a stadium, and everything to go with it, and don’t get not a nare discount? The owner gets the profits from ticket sales, concessions, parking, jersey sales, and what does the fan get? That’s an honest question. What does the fan get?

What about the citizens who are stuck paying for a stadium via taxes, who don’t like sports? Am I being too real right now? I really could care less, because all I’m seeing is people who didn’t mind seeing the great citizens of Oakland, Ca. get screwed for the sake of, 3 hours, for 8 Sundays, in a calendar year worth of entertainment.

If anything, I just hope Mayor Libby Schaaf makes great decisions, for the future of what is — the pulse of the Bay Area.

In conclusion, Mark Davis never wanted to be there, the Las Vegas citizens will get screwed on this deal everyone thinks is so sweet (on the surface), and Oakland, Ca deserves better than the treatment it’s received from sports owners, and people who complained, but never helped.

I’m a proud man from The Town until the day they bury me. I love you Oakland!

Belle Isle to get a Makeover

  • Dozens of volunteers from the Michigan Cares for Tourism organization are going to be sent to the park to help restore the island’s Casino Building, Flynn Pavilion and the Boat Club.

The state took control of the park in the form of a 30-year lease in 2013 when the city of Detroit declared for bankruptcy.

  • The Detroit Free Press will unveil it’s anticipated documentary on the 1967 Detroit riots, called 12th & Clairmount

  • The Heidelberg project creator, Tyree Guyton lost his midtown art location, that he’s had for nine years. Guyton, gained international fame when he began making outdoor art from castoff items, to draw attention to his blighted neighborhood on the East Side of Detroit. As controversial as his work has been, he brought attention and sort of a tourist attraction…

Exactly Why You Aren’t Happy

For the last 20 years or so, advertisements for big name companies have gone on aggressive ad campaigns.

Nike told you to Just do it

Pepsi told you to Live for the moment

Burger King told you to Have it your way

And so many other companies have told you, your life wasn’t good enough, while planting seeds of consumerism. Essentially you can Only improve your life with their particular product.

Fast forward to the modern era, where “reality” shows, ladened with talent deficient people you hadn’t heard of before, seeming to be living glamorously, are on television living it up, and you just got home — from work.

Now lets take it over to social media, where people you know, have built successful fake lives on the internet. Yes, we have reached the pinnacle of your senses being under attack for decades now, with messages telling you how unhappy you are. Think about it.

When I was in fourth grade, I got teased for not having the latest brand name shoes on. I was unaware I was supposed to. I was told my family was broke, on welfare among many other things. This kind of teasing went on around America at every age, I’m sure. Today I realize, that this was learned behavior. It all starts at home. These aren’t things you innately have in you.

As a kid, you’re oblivious to a lot of adult themed topics, until someone makes you aware of it.

So it begins. A life of feeling you aren’t worthy. Feeling as though everything you have, and everything you own, isn’t good enough. A burden most people carry with them, deep into adulthood. However once you are aware of it, you can begin the process of gratitude. Being happy about the little things.

Good health, vision, hearing, and so many other things we need to be thankful for if we are lucky enough to have. Why? Because not everybody in the world woke up this morning. Appreciate life. When it’s over, or you’re at the end, you’ll wish you had.

These companies want your money. These reality shows and social media want your attention. For money. Most of the messages you receive have something to do with money.

So every time you feel unhappy, or you feel like your life hasn’t panned out the way you imagined, let this little article be a reminder, that you have live according to you. Your happiness depends on you, not them.✌🏿
